June 16, 2010

The kids turned 5 on beautiful Wednesday in June. Summer, Glorious, Summer. The day was absolutely amazing.

The only unfortunate part about the day was the missing person from all the excitement. Douglas had to travel for work and was up in Canada for the week. We had a great time even though Douglas was greatly missed. Here's Sam getting a special birthday phone call from Daddy!

We started the day with a play in the park. McKennan Park is one of the oldest in Sioux Falls and they have do wonderful children's plays in the summer.
We had to wear the monkey birthday shirts of course!
Lunch was at another park. Showing off our "FIVES"!
Sam and Gabe playing at the park.
A tire swing!
It's even better when Grandma pushes you!

The monkey bar king. He's been doing these forever it seems like. He just flies over them. It's easy-peasy he says.

Leona struggles on the monkey bars but she finally made it across! She was so proud!

I'm not sure how this all balances out.

Yes. Gabe can climb all the way up to the top. He and Spiderman have a lot in common. A stop at the Milky Way for some strawberry ice cream cones.

Gabe and Grandpa Walt at the farm. This was obviously before I washed his face!

There is nothing like a little Leona hug!

Unless it's from one Leona to another!

FIVE! I see a FIVE!!!

Finding all the fives!

A hotdog dinner! Is there anything better?

Playing soccer. Laura and her friend Ange have some different rules.

I had mowed the yard at the farm earlier in the day. Some of the grass clippings had been thrown up onto the driveway cement. Gabe decided it was his job to clean them up!

He worked SO hard! He made that whole pile all by himself!

And then he cleaned off the house with his giant broom!

We had eaten but the cows hadn't! Everyone wanted to go help grandpa get the feed ready.

It's a good thing Grandpa has a big tractor! He sure has lots of helpers!

They are SO brave! A big ride up in the loader bucket with Grandma!
They were SO excited about how much they could see!
One of the best things about the farm is all the tractor rides!

Even Molly came along to the farm to celebrate! Lots of great sniffing on the farm.
Then it was time for presents! Great big coloring books for great big kiddos!
TOOLS from Auntie Laura!
And a special horse music box for Leona!
Finally it was time for CAKE!!! They loved the licorice faces Grandma made!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM, LEONA & GABE!!!
It was truly a beautiful day!
